The trusted Bolero has proven its mettle over nearly two decades of its existence, and this rugged workhorse still keeps Mahindra’s sales charts lit up particularly due to the sheer brand equity it enjoys deep within the hinterland.

Lets see what are the changes in the Mahindra Bolero Neo. And can it live up to the expectations of the og Bolero.
Mahindra Bolero Neo Design and Looks
The bolero neo has a boxy styling similar to the TUV300’s design. The wheels can be considered small compared to the overall body weight of the car, as the wheel has a 15 inch design. The X-shaped spare wheel cover is also carried over similar to the bolero.
It is safe to say that the new Mahindra Bolero Neo is more stylish and modern as compared to the og Mahindra Bolero which is more rugged and upright. However, Mahindra did make some elements similar to the bolero neo to make it more resemble to the original, thus adding certain elements like the toothy front grille, some sloping cuts on the front bumper and the round fog lamps.
The black shoulder cladding is also another design element that adds to the overall beauty of the car. This black cladding also helps break the visual height of the Neo, smaller wheel arch gaps and a better overall stance, is more palatable now. TUV300 had a clear lens tail lamp whereas the Mahindra Bolero neo now has regained the red tint tail lamps which is definitely a plus point.
Mahindra Bolero Neo interior Design
The interiors are nothing like the bolero. The cabin design and layout of the Mahindra Bolero Neo is similar to the TUV 300 and due to the lowered height of the car you’ll notice that entry into the cabin is much easier now. The dashboard offers a 7 inch touchscreen which is neatly designed and comes with a black dual tone theme.
The seats fabric is much improved as compared to the TUV300, but the Bolero Neo is not equipped with the reversing camera which is a negative point, whereas TUV300 had the feature. You’re going to love the seating positions and the airy cabin. Neo still gets chair-like front seats with individual armrests. Knee and legroom aren’t as generous as the headroom on offer, it can be a problem for you if you have long legs though.
Features of 2023 Mahindra Bolero Neo
N10 variant (top-spec) features kit like ABS with EBD and corner braking control, dual airbags, 7-inch touchscreen, remote-key entry, electric mirror adjustment, parking sensors, rear wiper and washer and cruise control, as the prominent features.
But even the top-spec misses several important features that we’ve come to associate in modern cars like automatic climate control, projector headlamps, Android Auto ,electric folding mirrors, auto dimming inside mirror, and Apple CarPlay. And as we’ve mentioned before one key feature that should’ve been included is a reversing camera, which was available in the 2019 TUV300.
Engine and Power offered in Bolero Neo
The car offers a 1.5 litre 3 cylinder diesel engine, the same as the bolero but with a higher 100hp state of tune with a 1493cc engine. The max torque band ranges from 1750 to 2250 rpm, which is just over 500 rpm more than the TUV’s 1200 rpm band. The engine is refined and smooth. This 1.5 litre remains in its cool zone up to 100 kmph and runs out of breath afterwards. Although the pulling power might’ve been improved as it is a 7 seater car.
The car comes with a 5 speed manual gearbox which is smooth, but an automatic option could’ve been introduced. Mahindra claims that the mileage of bolero neo is 17.29 km per litre on diesel, which can also go up or down according to the conditions of the environment, roads etc. The boot space of the Bolero Neo is 384 litres while its ground clearance is 160 mm.

The Mahindra bolero neo was launched on July 15, 2021. However, there is a waiting period of around 25-26 weeks. So you’ll have to wait around half a year.
